A neurological disorder that affects one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using spoken or written language. The disability may manifest itself in an imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell or to do mathematical calculations. Learning disabilities should not be confused with learning problems which are primarily the result of visual, hearing, or motor handicaps; of intellectual disabilities; of emotional disturbance; or of environmental, cultural or economic disadvantages.

Education ServicesA Different Way In Reading is a literacy program primarily for K-12 students who have dyslexia or serious difficulties with reading and-or written language. The Center uses a program which was specifically designed for students with dyslexia, Alphabetic Phonics. This multisensory scientifically-based structured language education program teaches each sound and "secret" rule that is reliable in the English language explicitly. Students receive three hours of instruction-week, given in groups of from one to four students, depending on student need.
