The Temporary Assistance Unit is responsible for evaluating and processing requests for cash assistance, and works closely with all other agency units to ensure that benefits are issued in an appropriate manner. There are five cash assistance programs which vary based on specific categorical criteria: Family Assistance (FA), Emergency Assistance to Families (EAF), Safety Net (SN) Emergency Safety Net (ESN) and Emergency Assistance to Adults (EAA).
An emergency requiring temporary shelter should be directed to the Washington County Department of Social Services (DSS).
