General Information
Description of ServiceHeroes at Home trains peer mentors to meet with any veteran who needs to talk about his or her concerns. These volunteer peer mentors are not therapists, but rather fellow veterans who undergo training to be able to help them listen to veterans and help them address their concerns. They provide an understanding shoulder to lean on, and can refer veterans to various services when needed. This program is not part of the VA. It is a local program within Rensselaer County, intended to help veterans and their families in the county.
